4x4 Magic Square

Magic Square of Order 4x4 is the second magic square order, the first even magic square order and is one of the most important magic square order in the history. It gave rise to several magic square orders of even numbers. The Magic Square Order of 4x4 is one of the even magic square which consists of four rows and columns. The puzzle requires 16 different numbers to solve the puzzle which should give the same magic constant with the addition of numbers horizontally, vertically and diagonally. The first Magic Square Puzzle found has numbers from 1 to 16 which gives a Magic Constant of 34. The examples of Magic Square of Order 4x4 has been shown below:

Types of Magic Square of Order 4x4

Unlike Magic Square of Order 3x3 which is off just one type where all magic constants are divisible by 3, magic square of order 4x4 are off two types where magic constants are divisible by 2 and 4 or just by 2.

In this case, all the magic constants of magic square of order 4x4 are only divisible by 2 and not by 4. The numbers in the puzzles are mixture of odd and even numbers. This can be illustrated with an example below where Magic Constant is 34 which is only divisible by 2 but not by 4.

In this case, all the magic constants of magic square of order 4x4 are only divisible by 2 and 4 as well. The numbers present in the puzzles are either all odd numbers or all even numbers. This can be illustrated with an example below where Magic Constant is 72 which is only divisible by 2 as well as 4.
